What Rotation is

Rotation is a personal music journal for iOS. This policy covers the information the app collects and how it's used.

Account information

You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Depending on what you choose to share with Apple, this gives Rotation your name and email address, which are used to create and identify your account. Your account and the data below are stored with our backend provider, Supabase.

You can also upload a profile image. It's stored the same way as your account data and is used only to display your profile within the app.

Content you add

The albums, ratings, notes, and lists you log in Rotation are stored so the app can show you your rotation history across devices. This content is yours: it's used only to provide the app's features, never sold, and never shared with advertisers.

Album artwork normally comes from the Cover Art Archive. If an album isn't listed there, you can upload your own image to use as its cover art. Uploaded images are stored the same way as your other content and are used only to display that album's artwork within the app.

Apple Music

If you grant Apple Music access, Rotation reads what's currently playing in your Apple Music library so you can log it in one tap. This access is read-only and used locally on your device. Rotation doesn't upload your Apple Music library or listening activity.

Last.fm

If you link a Last.fm account, Rotation uses the Last.fm API to import your scrobble history into your rotation. Only the data needed to complete the import is requested, and it becomes part of your regular Rotation content once imported.

Bandcamp

When you paste a Bandcamp album or track link, Rotation fetches that page directly from Bandcamp to read the album's title, artist, and cover art. No account or personal information is sent to Bandcamp as part of this.

Sharing to Instagram

Rotation can generate a collage of a week's albums for you to share to Instagram Stories. This uses Apple's standard share sheet. The image is only sent anywhere if you choose to share it yourself.

What we don't do

Rotation doesn't include third-party analytics or ad-tracking SDKs, and we don't sell your data.

Deleting your data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings inside the app at any time.
